What does a weak positive pregnancy test mean?

Question by src8784: What does a weak positive pregnancy test mean?
This sunday will be my second missed period. About three days ago I started throwing up so I took two pregnancy tests. They both were very distictively positive. Well I went to the clinic today and they said that there test said it was a weak positive. So I have to go back tomorrow.
Does this mean I am going to miscarry again?

I dont think that the amount of “postive” has anything to do with miscarrying. Good luck- it will be alright!

Sweetie dont stress!!!! It could just be that its very early and so the test is only faintly positive, are they going to do a blood test tomorrow? You should ask for one. Just relax, I know its good luck to you, everything works out the way it should, even though its not always how we think it should be, but I hope it works out for you the way you want it

Home pregnancy test do not test how much hormone in your body just that it is present. So as long as the test showed positive your pregnant. I would call your doctor immediately and stop taking home pregnancy tests. In my experience and three children later i have found that trying to decipher tons of pregnancy test and the color of the lines and what it means causes far to much stress. And in the beginning of pregnancy that is the last thing your body needs. So like i said i would call the doctor and get a blood test.

It means that you are probably just in the very early stages of pregnancy. Congratulations.

A weak positive doesn’t mean you will miscarry.
Im 38+3 and i found out at 4 weeks, and my test was very weak. I miscarried about 2 years ago and was paranoid until I had a bump! They say that there are such things as false negatives but not false positives. Home pregnancy tests can be just as reliable as clinics. Good luck. xxxx

I’ve work in maternal and child health care for almost 10 years and I’ve never heard of a “weak” positive test. You are either pregnant or you aren’t. Since the test was positive, then you are pregnant. Since you stated “miscarry again” then your doctor should run additional blood tests to test your hormone levels. Some women have low progesterone levels which make it difficult to sustain a pregnancy. There are medications to help with that. If your hormone levels are fine then you might consider an amnio test to rule out genetic issues.

No one here can guarantee that this pregnancy will be healthy and that you won’t miscarry again. I wish you all of the luck in the world that you will not experience another pregnancy loss.

Hopefully not…you are definately pregnant, weak positive or not, it was positive…it would be best to go make an appointment with a doctor…good luck!

    Congrats your pregnant.

They used their own pregnancy. Each pregnancy picks up different levels. So while one test a bright + test and another could be a very faint + test.

Congrats again and good luck :-)

The early predictor home pregnancy tests are more sensitive then the ones at the Doctors. They probably want your hormone level to be a little stronger, that way it will be very positive in there office. That is very strange to me though! If you get a positive then you are pregnant. Anyways Congratulations!
