homemade pregnancy tests?

Question by ilovehimwithallmyheart9202004♥: homemade pregnancy tests?
i just recently went to the doctor and found out that i am pregnant (12 weeks to be exact ). im 20years old and married.

ive heard of people making homemade pregnancy tests out of clorox or other household items. i am just curious if it really works because my cousin did it and found out she was pregnant at the age of 30. so after she went to the doctor they told her that she was indeed pregnant.

does anyone know how to make one out of household cleaning items? id ask her but she threw the paper away that she had it wrote on.

like i said ive already been to the doctor and im just curious to see if it really works or if my cousin was just lucky.

That sounds innacurate and ghetto as hell. Now way i’d be messing around with bleach whilst pregnant. And mixing house hold cleaners is STUPID.

I have heard of women peeing in drano the granuler kind, it changes colors if you are. BTW Congrats!

Never heard of it. Just don’t mix amonia and bleach, it will be toxic. If you find the ‘recipe’ let me know. :)

Well if it requires peeing into the conconction and there is bleach then that is actually very dangerous. Pee + bleach is just like amonia + bleach, it makes toxic gasses.

Sorry i wouldn’t have a clue wouldn’t no where to start congratulations on your pregnancy

If they were reliable, no one would be spending upwards of $15 on store-bought tests.

I am a chemist. To the best of my knowledge, there is nothing that can be found under your sink or in the kitchen cabinets that would test for the presence of hCG and hCG only. You need a specific indicator to change color in the presence of that hormone only in order for a pregnancy test to be effective. I think your cousin was just lucky…or else that particular test looks positive for anyone!

Sorry but I have never heard of such thing as making a pregnancy test of household items. Never heard about it. Good luck hope you find the recipe!!!

I have never heard of such a thing. And it sounds dangerous.

Don’t do this, there is a chance that the chemical’s can explode when mixed together. The whole theory behind this is that if you mix them, it changes colour and depending on the colour you can tell if you are carrying a boy or a girl but it does not always work and like i said it is to dangerous, not worth hurting yourself or baby.

I have never heard of something like this, but I’d be too scared to try it.

But my question is why would you want to, the pregnancy test are not that expensive and if you don’t want to waste the money just waite a little longer before you take it (like a few days after you miss your scheduled period) If you can’t afford it then go to a family planning clinic.

I also heard you can buy pregancy tests at the dollar store. If you’re really in need of trying a cheap way than I’d do that (I heard someone on Yahoo saying they bought 1 at the dollar store so I don’t know in what area).

Ive heard something about this, something about anti-freeze i THINK, really cant remember but I know if you urinated in it if it went frosty like seperate from the fluid then ur pregnant..but it sounds stupid to me mixing chemicals!

If you add urine to a cup of bleach and it fizzes, you are pregnant.

If you mix two ounces of urine and two tablespoons of crystal Draino, and the mixture darkens, you are having a boy.

Of course, you would have to be gullible and very bored to try either of these methods.
