Question by qtiequawn: Has anyone experienced missed period, but negative pregnancy test?
I am a mom of a 12 month old baby girl. I have never missed a period my entire life, except when I found out I was pregnant. My period was due September 5th and still nothing yet. I’m confused and worried. I took a few pregnancy test within the past 2 weeks and they came back negative. Monday I got blood work done and that was negative. It’s hard to take no for an answer and live with it. I’m just concerned for myself… Has anybody experienced this and found out they were pregnant later?

I can not test positive for pregnancy until I am at least 6wks. So, it is possible that you may be preggo. Good luck!

Of course! BUT if it’s blood work, then no. Blood tests pick up the tiniest traces of pregnancy hormones, so even if you were a few days pregnant it would pick up.
Right now just ENJOY your year old! I just had my second, and my son is almost 2. I can’t tell you have hectic it is. If I had to do it again, I would have waited until he was almost 3.
I’ve missed periods and not been pregnant. I’ve never had a negative result consistently, particularly from a blood test and had them be wrong. If you got a negative blood test result, you’re not pregnant.
My issue ended up being hormone related – I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome, which affected my hormones enough that I skipped periods. Though, that may not at all be your issue. There are a variety of things that can cause a missed period other than pregnancy. Stress, increased activity [athletes frequently don't get periods], illness, etc. Go to your doctor, and don’t just ask “can I get another pregnancy test.” No.. explain your symptoms and tell him/her about your past, regarding your regularity, etc., tell him/her about the pregnancy tests you’ve already taken.. and find out what the issue is.
I think it is possible. I have heard of it happening. You could get a second opinion.
Like you, I rarely skipped a period unless I was pregnant. However there are things that can cause a woman to miss her period other than pregnancy. Low body weight. Stress. Hormone imbalances. Coming off the pill. I’m no doctor, so I can’t begin to give you a list of all the possibilities.
You say you had a blood test. I assume that means you have been to your doctor. If your doctor is a general practitioner, you might get more peace of mind by going to an ob/gyn. Definitely get a thorough check up so you can eliminate the other possibilities.
Relax and decide how you’ll deal with this if you are pregnant and you’ll probably have a period in October.
I went for months almost a year with no period. They never really pinpointed what was wrong, but gave me something to start it again (provera). After I had my son…for a few years things we ok…then I just quit having periods. I do have endometriosis as well which they assume played a role in it…but basically blamed stress on why I didnt ovulate. Dont really buy that but I started back now after meds and everything is ok. Just go to the doc and see what they say.
I am going through the same thing. I have not had a period since July. I took about 6 pregnancy tests before I went to the doctor and had blood work. Still negative. He said it could either be due to stress or weight loss or weight gain. I was given birth control to make me regular again. So, I know how you feel and understand your frustration. I would say your definitely not pregnant but I would call or go back to your doctor just to be on the safe side and see if there are any other persisting problems. Good luck:)
Hi Yes I have a 6 month old baby and I was supposed to start my period sept 14 and nothing yet. My pregnancy tests were both negative. I dont understand why I am so late. I have only been like 2 days late since the baby was born and now I am almost 10 days late. I just dont understand!
