Do pregnancy tests work differently for plus-sized women?

Question by wordnerd1007: Do pregnancy tests work differently for plus-sized women?
I heard somewhere that with plus-sized women pregnancy tests can take between 2-6 weeks longer to get a positive result that on a woman with a normal weight. Is this true? Do you know of any plus-sized women that this happened to?

No, it’s just how your body processes hCG and how much hCG you have at the time you test.

No they all work the same no matter what your weight

Nope. HCG is the same for everyone, no matter how they are built. If you’re pregnant, you’re pregnant. And for what it’s worth, I’m a little overweight and got positives right away with both my pregnancies(3 days late with my son and 2 days late with this one).

This is not true my whole family is plus size including i only i got lucky because i am 6 foot. all of my sisters found out a couple days after they missed their period and i found out 3 days before i missed mine. it’s all about the hcg levels in your urine has nothing to do with weight.

I never get a positive until I am at least a week late, and I am plus sized. I don’t know if there is any connection, I just thought I was weird.

    No…

  7. metallica_rocks0122 says:

No mine came up postive right away…

  8. Dee Virginia says:

No that has nothing to do with your pregnancy test.I was 195lbs when I did my tests & they still came up possitive with a faint line. I do like the tests with the lines. Even if the test shows a little HCG hormone you will get a faint line. A faint line is still a positive.
