Do all negative pregnancy tests turn into positive after a certain period of time?

Question by ♥: Do all negative pregnancy tests turn into positive after a certain period of time?
For instance, if you take a pregnancy test and it reads negative, then you look at it again in an hour and it says positive.( I know the positive isn’t accurate) But do all tests do that? Or do most negatives stay negatives?

Not all tests. It’s called an evaporation line. They’re usually grey in color.
You should never read a test after it’s alloted time…. usually after 10 mins its garbage

  1. Amanda says:

Most stay negative, some get the extra line during evaporation :)

  2. yellow fuzzy says:

It just depends on the test and on the brand- some do and some don’t. I’ve had tests do both.

Who knows.. I guess only the ones that absorb the urine to make the line appear do..

If they turn positive after an hour or so it’s probably because it soaked up all the urine and highlighted the line.. but to get the answer you would probably have to buy one of each brand, pee on it and wait and hour to see.

no it shouldn’t. the test is supposed to stay negative or positive but never should change. i would take another test from a different box, it could of been out dated.

  5. Mommy to 4 boys :) says:

Not all but some of them. What you are seeing is called an evaporation line. It can make the test look like it’s positive. Pregnancy tests must be read in the amount of time stated in the directions.
