Question by lonesome star: Are the unrine pregnancy test from doctors office better then home pregnancy tests? Or are they the same?
I took a home pregnancy test yesturday and it came out negative but I am a week late. I am scheduled for a blood test next week but I am taking the urine test tommorrow at a womens clinic. Is the urine prenancy test in a medical office the same as the home pregnancy test?

I don’t think they are any better. Most detect the same levels of HCG. A blood test is more accurate.
They are the same and in some cases, the EPT’s are a little more sensitive. The only reason they would be more accurate is if they didn’t let you test until your missed period ( there would be more hcg in the urine at that point)

Yes, they are exactly the same. The test is dipped in urine or placed directly in your urine stream and and tells you whether or not the hormone has been detected.
The blood test is the best way to go, it is much more reliable.

A girlfriend of mine works as a nurse practitioner, and they actually use the same kind you can get in the store. She said they don’t even bother getting the digital ones–just plain old “if the line shows up, your pregnant” ones
The urine tests from the doctors office are actually less sensitive than most home tests. I would say you probably aren’t pregnant.

It’s pretty much just the same thing…both just check for the pregnany hormones in urine…
the only one that is going to be different is the blood test.
I would depend on the doctor’s test more than a pregnancy test. I took a home test and showed not pregnant, went to the doctor and was pregnant. It looks for different levels in your urine and is probably more accurate (it was in my case).

Blood tests performed at your clinic have a 99% accuracy rate and can detect pregnancy earlier than most urine tests. Blood tests can be performed 7 days after you ovulate (which is about a week before your period is due) and still provide accurate results. Sometimes, lab oversights can affect the accuracy of results, however this is rare.

Yes it is the exact same test. Actually the $1 Pregnancy test you can buy from Dollar General is what most labs at doctor offices use. I worked for a doctors office and they bought them thru a Dollar General website. A blood test will definetly let you know for sure whether you are or not pregnant.
Yes it’s the same, actually a little less sensitive than the dollar store tests. I used to work for an OBGYN and the tests they use picked up when your hcg was at 100 whereas the dollar store tests (along with some others) pick up at 25.) Alot of people think a blood test is more accurate but in actuality, unless you request a QUANTITATIVE HCG where they measure the amount of HCG in your blood, they will normally do a QUALITATIVE HCG which is the exact same test as a urine except they use the serum from your blood instead of urine, so if your HCG is at 30, it will still say negative even though you are actually pregnant. So remember to ask for a quantitative hcg or “beta” hcg.
Yes it is. I’ve taken many at home pregnancy test then when to the womens clinic to get a urine test done there and it came back the same as my at home test. The best answer you are going to get is that blood test. I always take an at home, and a blood test to make sure. But make sure when you do get your urine test you still get a blood test because you could still be pregnant. The only way to be 100% accurate is by blood. Good luck!
